What Are The Conditions For Women In Ihram?

Ihram for Umrah or Hajj is a means of spreading equality among Muslims across the globe who come to visit the holy Kaaba. This is because once all the pilgrims are in a state of Ihram, there is no distinction – between the rich and the poor or the races and ethnicity.

We have discussed the conditions for Ihram for men, but today we will talk about the rules for women in Ihram. Before entering the state of Ihram, there are certain things that women should do. These include doing Ghusl – an act of cleansing the entire body for purification. Then one must make a proper intention for it, which is known as Niyyah for Ihram. This centers around the purpose of the pilgrimage as for the sake of Allah only.

IHRAM CONDITIONS FOR WOMEN

There are some common rules of Ihram for both men and women. However, today we are going to look at the guidelines or the rules for Ihram for women.

Any regular clothes can be worn underneath the abaya which is the main piece of clothing in Ihram for women for both Hajj and Umrah. This loose attire covers the whole body and a hijab is worn to cover the head. The main rule for a woman is to keep her face uncovered during the entire pilgrimage.

RULES OF STATE OF THE IHRAM FOR WOMEN

Apart from the Ihram clothing, certain things must be kept in mind when a woman performs the pilgrimage for Allah, following the state of Ihram:

  • Women should wear plain abayas, nothing too fancy and best to wear colors such as black or white and breathable but opaque fabric for their comfort.
  •       An abaya is loose and flowy, it should not show the figure
  •       Cutting one inch of your hair from the ends is a ritual for women.
  •       However, you cannot clip your nails or shave body hair during the time of pilgrimage time.
  •       No perfume, scents, or makeup cosmetics are not allowed
  •       Avoid wearing any accessories such as jewelry.
  •       Avoid covering your hands and face in the state of Ihram.
  •       No intimate relations with others.
  •       Do not engage in backbiting or arguments that include any foul language.
  •       Similarly, no physical harm to any living thing of Allah.
